Being a Naperville Photographer means I get to photograph my own kids, a ton. Part of the reason I got into photography was so that my children would have a really amazing documentation of their childhood. Lila and August are growing and growing. There was a time in my twenties when I felt lost, now I know my soul probably missed these two, before I even met them. Don’t get me wrong, my younger years were great, and I should have been more thankful for the amount of sleep I got then, but I think part of me must have always missed my little family before I knew them.
I recently read, Yes Please by Amy Poehler and this quote really stuck with me:
“When your children arrive, the best you can hope for is that they break open everything about you. Your mind floods with oxygen. Your heart becomes a room with wide-open windows. You laugh hard every day. You think about the future and read about global warming. You realize how nice it feels to care about someone else more than yourself. And gradually, through this heart-heavy openness and these fresh eyes, you start to see the world a little more.” – Amy Poehler
Photographs like this are my favorite. It is the day to day things that stick with us and that we miss when they are gone or sometimes even before they happen. To book a photography session in the Naperville or Chicago area, be sure to contact me.
