Book Club: Looking for Alaska by John Green

I admit it, I love teen drama. Of course I read Fault in Our Stars and then I decided to read Looking For Alaska which is also written by John Green  Like The Fault in Our Stars, the teenagers in this novel are extremely intelligent and reflective, so they remind me nothing of myself at that age.

In this novel, the main character Miles chooses to attend boarding school to escape his uneventful life and pursue, “the great perhaps.” While a social outcast back home,  at school he makes a quick group of friends. Since this is a teen drama, there is of course a love interest and since this is a John Green novel, there is also death and existentialism.

I loved the beginning of this book, was angry in the middle and I loved the ending. Somehow, I found this book to be a cross between The Gilmore Girls (only due to the vast vocabulary of the teenagers) and Rushmore.

Be sure to drop me a line and tell me what you thought.
