Sandra and Carlos’s session started out relaxed and casual. I had just met them during our session and we talked casually. Sandra and I were chatter boxes because we found out we are both teachers. We talked about teaching math and then I learned that Carlos and Sandra have been dating for nine years. They a super adorable pair and wanted to include one of their dogs in our session. Their other dog was left home because he was deemed too wild for photos. About halfway through our session, Carlos insisted on putting their dog Max in the car so we could get a few photographs of just Sandra and Carlos. Sandra was a bit nervous to leave Max in the car even briefly, but Carlos promised it would just be for a few minutes. While waiting for Carlos to return, Sandra and I continued chatting about teaching. When Carlos returned, he quickly flashed me the ring box while Sandra was looking away. I had no idea this proposal was going to happen! It was beyond perfect. So much joy! This casual session quickly turned into a collection of engagement photographs.
This is part of the reason I love being a photographer. So many have invited me to document irreplaceable moments like these. Documenting the human experience- that is the purpose for my path.
