I love Northern Michigan. It is a magical place where everyone is friendly and even strangers are happy to see you. The day before I photographed this wedding, I was out exploring the adorable shops in downtown Charlevoix when my car battery died. A shopkeeper flagged a familiar face he immediately recognized on the street who gladly came to my rescue. In another store I met a shop owner, who like me was once a teacher. We chatted about the story of his family’s summer camp, how he became a kayak shop owner and how his daughter now lives in Chicago. Charlevoix is a place where I felt at home. I told you, Charlevoix is magical. Imagine a storybook town.
I photographed Danielle and Zack’s Charlevoix wedding in September in Charlevoix, Michigan. You can find the original blog post here. These are a few of the images I took that day on film. I am not sure what drew me to love film so much, but I am incorporating it into my work more and more. Film is beautiful and classic and a collection of film images is now included in all my wedding packages. Having a collection of diverse and classic images is important. Film has help me explore myself both as a photographer and artist.
Do I want to photograph another wedding in Michigan soon? YESSSSSSSSSSS!
While writing this post, I was listening to Journey.
